Requiem for mezzo-soprano (or countertenor) solo and mixed choir a cappella (2020-21) was composed at the height of the coronavirus pandemic and was dedicated it to the memory of its victims. Based on selected texts of the Catholic mass for the dead, the work also features the text of the Jewish prayer for the departed “El Male Rachamim” (God full of mercy). The soloist in the composition represents the mourner as an individual, and as a leader of a “Congregation” (choir).
World premiere of the work took place at the Sobornaya Palata Hall in Moscow on December 6, 2021.
Performers: Moscow Synodal choir, cunducted by Michael Kotelnikov. The solo part was performed by mezzo soprano Polina Shamaeva (soloist of Novaya Opera and the Hungarian State Opera House)
Another performance took place at Moscow International House of Music on May 2023.
Performers: Moscow Synodal Choir, the Arielle vocal ensemble, conducted by Arif Dadashev. The soloist was countertenor Andrey Nemzer, soloist of Metropolitan Opera and musicAeterna ensemble.
